Hey There!

Thanks for visiting us--we are so pleased to have you with us today! I'm Jared Smith Sr. a native of Nebraska, a private flute instructor in the Omaha metro, the apiary manager for the non-profit Omaha Permaculture, and the owner/founder of Blacksmith Honey Farms. I've a love for parenting, ancient history, serving others, the Bible, and a passion for all things nature from plant to bug. Some of my hobbies include horticultural landscaping, playing chess, writing, drawing, motorcyling, Lindy-hop swing dancing (although not great at it...yet!), and beekeeping!

Our Story...
Begins the summer of 2021. As was a bit of tradition on Sunday afternoons, We were seated in the family room nerding out on some nature documentaries on Youtube with when videos on beekeeping kept coming up in our playlist queue. I decided to go ahead and take a look at what I thought would be JUST ONE video, but to my surprise that one video soon became many more in the weeks and months to follow; a study on the honey bee and its husbandry ensued. It was not anticipated that what would begin as a family hobby would soon blossom into something much more than a few hives. We value the important role that honey bees fulfill, and here at Blacksmith Honey Farms, we believe in keeping honey just as nature intended--raw, unprocessed, and full of natural enzymes, antioxidants, and unique flavors. Your support aids us in sustaining natural beekeeping practices which in turn help to maintain healthy bee populations and biodiversity within the Omaha metro. We thank God for this unique opportunity and to share the journey with you!
